Creating a signature for your Outlook Express email

Creating a basic text signature

Please use the following steps to set up a plain text signature for your Outlook Express email. Please note that a plain text signature can not have any colour or text formatting. If you would like formatting, please see the Formatted HTML Signature section below.

Step 1: Open Outlook Express and click on the 'Tools' option within the menu that runs across the top of the program. Click on the "Options..." menu within this selection to being up a popup window.

Step 3: Now click on the 'New' button. A new line will appear in the pane to the left, if you wish at this point, you can click the 'Rename' button and give the signature an appropriate name (useful if you have a number of different accounts set up in Outlook Express). Make sure the 'Text' radio button is selected under 'Edit Signature', then click in the pane to the right of this to activate the cursor in there.

Step 4: Now, simply type in the information that you want to show in your signature. Once you are happy with what you have typed, make sure that the 'Add signatures to all outgoing messages' option at the top of the window is ticked, then click 'Apply' and then 'OK'.

If you try to create a new email now, you should find that the signature you have just created is at the bottom of every message.

Formatted HTML Signature

Alternatively to a plain textual signature, you can attach a formatted signature which could include varied colours, alternatively sized text and even a logo. If you would like a formatted signature, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. Alternatively, you can use the form below to create and download a templated signature.

To include a formatted signature with your emails, please follow steps 1 & 2 as above. Once the new window has popped up, you can activate the formatted option by clicking on the radial button next to the "File" option. This file will need to be in a folder which is accessible via Outlook, and should not be moved once the signature has been created.

If you have any issues creating a formatted or plain text signature, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
