A Hard Look at PPC, Clíck Fraud and the Alternatives

By Bill Platt (c) 2006 the Phantom Writers

With the creation of the Overture and Google Adwords systems, many webmasters believed they had finally hit the mother load. It was no longer necessary for small online businesses to invest large amounts of monëy into Search Engine Optimization (SEO) services to gain high search rankings in the natural search results.
Even webmasters committed to SEO campaigns began to realize its fleeting nature. Given frequent search engine algorithm changes, optimizing a website was no guarantëe that in 6 months or less it wouldn’t be back to square one and page twenty of the search results.

…Google’s AdWords team announced in its blog. Only a static image will be loaded upon reaching a page containing a video ad.

How to Grab a Good Top Level Domain

With the recent explosion in the availability of website domain name suffixes (such as .eu, .ws, .cc and so on) it’s never been easier to grab a domain name that is directly related to the subject matter of your site.

For example, if your site were to be about Persian Cats, you would probably want to use a domain name including the phrase “persiancat”. Unfortunately, however, persiancat.com is no longer available. Nor is persiancat.net, .org, .biz or any of the other top level domain name suffixes.

As I write, persiancat.ws IS still available, so you could buy that name if you wanted to.

The Misunderstood Marketing Method

By Mark Daoust

How do you hide a tree? Put it in a forest.
This is what many authors have effectively done when they suggest that you should use articles to promote your website. The technique that these authors suggest can be summarized as follows: write something you know about, add your resource box, submit your article to tens of thousands of frëe reprint directories and distribution groups, and wait for publishers to pick up your article.

But this is entirely the wrong method.

Schmidt: Google Has Just Begun

Written by David Utter

Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt told media attendees at Press Day that search is the inevitable outcome of what is and will happen on the Internet.

The Internet has started a new phase, according to Schmidt, and Google is ready to lead the way to it. “We’ve organized Google to be the systematic innovator of scale,” he said. “Virtually all of the interesting information businesses have can live on this platform.”

Schmidt made the argument for search as the “inevitable outcome” of all that happens online. “As the web gets bigger you need search as a tool to get thru this,” he said. “Web growth has turned out to be faster that Moore’s Law.”
